On October 2nd of 2012, world farm animals day, at Rabin Square in central Tel-Aviv, animal rights activists performed an act of solidarity and empathy towards abused animals in factory farms. Three activists, one of whom was flown from Russia, demonstrated in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv a common practice done towards innocent animals in factory farms all around the world. The display’s aim is to call for empathy towards the most oppressed sector of our society.

“Our grandchildren will ask us one day:

Where were you during the Holocaust of the animals?

What did you do against these horrifying crimes?

We won’t be able to offer the same excuse for the second time, that we didn’t know.”

Dr. Helmut Kaplan

Since the demonstration in Tel Aviv, hundreds of people around the world have chosen to receive the “269” tattoo, in support of the activists who were branded, and as an act of solidarity with the animals who are oppressed.

There is an obvious link between

human slavery and non-human slavery:

 comparison

The Dreaded Comparison, by Marjorie Spiegel

“During the years of African American slavery, then lynching (in the U.S.), 99% of the professional, “civilized”, esteemed and church-going society was pro-slavery and pro-lynching. They had scientific documents showing that African Americans were sub-human and felt no pain and were “beasts”. All of these good people committed atrocity after atrocity, head held high. But for a few abolitionists who were disliked and considered weird and very unpopular, this was the widespread understanding. Today, the vegans are the abolitionists, the animals are the slaves/beasts, and the masses are committing atrocity after atrocity, with no idea of what they are supporting. Please read this book if you haven’t already. It’s short and powerful!” … …  …  …  Meadowlark.
