Christians for Animals Network

  (CAN Australia)  Founded in 2005

The Christians for Animals Network (CAN) is a group of spiritually motivated people who believe in the compassionate and respectful treatment of all God's creatures.

The main purpose of CAN is to provide a network of moral support to other like-minded people in their efforts to promote the right treatment of animals.

The members of CAN discuss and promote the right treatment of animals through their belief that the original teachings of Christ promoted the same end.

The members of CAN who are associated with a church or church group are encouraged to promote kind and considerate attitudes towards animals within their church.

In its concern for non-human species, the Christians for Animals Network acknowledges the interdependence of the ecology of the planet, commonly called the “web of life”.

The Christians for Animals Network is non-denominational and welcomes other spiritually minded people to join their online discussions.

CAN members exchange information and concepts through an email based discussion group that aims to:

  • Explore the interpretations in theology of human relations with other species.
  • Seek to understand the underlying theology supporting current practice and the barriers to change.
  • Raise the mutual level of interest between Christian and animal welfare / liberation organisations.
  •  Seek openings to bring the discussion direct to the general community
